About the event
Join the Kansas Native Seed Team for a Seed Cleaning event at the East Lawrence Rec Center (1245 E 15th St, Lawrence, KS) on Sunday, 1/7/24 from 1-4 pm.
Seed Cleaning events are an excellent opportunity to engage in important conservation work and enjoy a nature-minded community while cozy indoors! No experience required - our instructors will demonstrate how to clean each unique seed head. The seeds we clean will be used in public land restoration efforts across Douglas County.
You just need to bring a pair of gloves (to protect against spiky seed heads), a water bottle, and a snack if you wish. Light refreshments will be provided. There are bathrooms, a water fountain, and heating on site.
Be sure to sign up through this link: https://kansaslandtrust-bloom.kindful.com/e/seed-cleaning-3
Space is limited to 25 folks!
We are lucky to have enough instructors to accommodate attendees popping in and out, if you would prefer not to stay the whole time.
The Kansas Native Seed Team is funded by a Douglas County Natural Heritage Conservation Grant. Partners on the grant include the Kansas Land Trust, Native Lands Restoration Collaborative, Kansas City Wildlands (of Bridging the Gap), and the Haskell Greenhouse. Our friends at the Grassland Heritage Foundation will be providing further leadership and education at this event - thank you!
We look forward to seeing you!
