Field Botany Series
Join Native Lands Restoration Collaborative for a series of workshops focused on learning to identify plants in the field! Led by ecologist Courtney Masterson, students will learn botany and ecology at Blazing Star Prairie, north of Lawrence, Kansas.
Each workshop will be hosted at the same diverse site, allowing participants to observe how the landscape and systems shift over the seasons. Students in the workshop will learn to identify plants through observation of flowers, seeds, leaves, bark, and other plant morphology. Creative note-taking, journaling, sketching and photography to aid in learning is encouraged!
Who is this for? This series is suited for beginners and beyond — no prior knowledge of plant identification is needed. This is a field course and we are happy to collaborate with students in need of assistance with site access. Please reach out if you have questions. Everyone is welcome!
